The most-decorated figure skaters in Canadian history skated away with the gold.
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, from the London-Middlesex area, won the gold medal in the ice dancing event at the Olympic Winter Games in South Korea, with a total score of 206.07. They delivered an emotional long program Tuesday morning, Monday night in Ontario.
This Olympic competition was the third for the pair, who have skated together on-and-off for 21 years. They won the gold in 2010 in front of their home crowd in Vancouver, and silver four years ago in Sochi, Russia.
Virtue and Moir already have a gold medal in these Games, a team medal for Canada in figure skating.
The pair completed their short program the night before with a record score of 83.67 and delivered a flawless long program for an additional score of 122.40.
Virtue and Moir beat out Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France, who won the silver medal. Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani of the United States won the bronze medal.
