UPDATE: Firefighters respond to house fire in Thamesville

Damage is estimated at $150,000 after a fire sparked at a house in Thamesville early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from Thamesville and Bothwell both responded to the scene at 85 Ann St. just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials with Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services said the fire started in a detached garage, flames then extended to the house and a nearby garage on the neighbour's property. In order to put out the fire and stop it from spreading, fire crews had to open up the ceiling and walls inside of the house.
