A 36-year-old Moraviantown man has been charged for allegedly stealing mail and cheques from mailboxes in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police were called about a suspicious person near the Black Bridge Bike Trail on Boxing Day. After conducting a search, officers found documents, mail and cheques that weren't addressed to the 36-year-old. Following an investigation, officers later found out that the mail had been stolen from two separate businesses.
The 36-year-old was arrested Monday night and charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He will have to go to court later this month to answer to the charges.

A domestic-related incident has resulted in charges against a 46-year-old Chatham man.
Police said an argument between a man and his common-law wife turned physical early Sunday morning. The woman's father stepped in and escorted the man out of the residence.
It's alleged that the 46-year-old forced his way back inside of the apartment and assaulted the woman's father.
The Chatham man was arrested Monday night and charged with forcible entry and two counts of assault.

Chatham-Kent police are asking for help in identifying two suspects accused of a break and enter on Christmas Day.
Officers said the break-in happened at a property on Glasgow Line.

In the meantime, police are also investigating a separate break-in at an apartment in Chatham. At some point Monday afternoon, someone broke into an apartment unit on Wellington Street East. An HP laptop was reported stolen.

Local officers want to hear from residents. The Chatham-Kent Police Service is hosting a "Coffee with a Cop" event on January 23.
It will take place at the McDonald’s on St. Clair Street in Chatham from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Those who show up to chat will get a free small coffee. It's not a formal meeting with speeches or an agenda but rather a one-on-one session with officers.
