Environment Canada has ended its freezing rain warning for southwestern Ontario.
Roadways and sidewalks across much of southwestern Ontario could still be slippery as a band of freezing rain moves across the region.
Snow mixed with ice pellets Tuesday night changed into freezing rain overnight. That is turning into rain early Wednesday morning.
According to the national weather agency, the freezing rain was associated with a Colorado low tracking northeast across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Drivers are advised that highways, streets, and parking lots will be slippery as a result of the weather changeover and should slow down and maintain a safe following distance.
The freezing rain will be followed by up to 25 millimetres of rainfall, strong winds, and mild temperatures. The daytime high Wednesday is forecast to be 6 C. That comes after several days of frigid temperatures, which prompted cold weather alerts in several cities and communities in southwestern Ontario.
