A local cannabis producer has received a certificate passing it for both Canadian and European Union (EU) regulations and apparently in record time.
AgMedica Bioscience Inc. announced Tuesday that its facility in Chatham has received the current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) certification.
The cGMP is from the internationally-recognized testing firm SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification and certification company, according to AgMedica. In a release, the company said SGS performed an independent inspection of the process and facilities using both EU and Health Canada regulations. The company said SGS certified the cultivation, processing and sale of cannabis products by AgMedica met the cGMP requirements for both Canada and the EU.
The company said it achieved the certification one year after Health Canada granted AgMedica its first licence to cultivate cannabis. No other licensed producer has received EU-GMP or Canadian-GMP certification that quickly after being granted a Health Canada licence, AgMedica said.
