A 33-year-old man from Walpole Island is facing charges after he allegedly tried to cash in a stolen cheque.
Chatham-Kent police said the 33-year-old attempted to cash in the cheque at the Money Mart in Wallaceburg Monday afternoon at 3 p.m.
He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and use, deals, acts on a forged document. He has since been released from police custody with a future court date. -----------------
Police are investigating several break and enter incidents reported in Chatham.
A residence on Woods Street was reportedly broken into on Monday, sometime between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Police said there was damage to a door and jewellery was reported stolen, however, the value of items stolen is unknown.
In a separate incident, police said a residence on Avon Drive was broken into on Monday afternoon, sometime between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. One piece of jewellery worth $25 was reported stolen.
Lastly, police said someone broke into a residence on Amelia Avenue and rummaged through the home. The break-in reportedly happened between 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Monday.
