Not sure what to do with those old old prom or bridesmaids dresses that are taking up space in your closet? The students at UCC in Chatham will gladly take them off your hands.
"We collect donations of dresses, shoes, and accessories," said teacher Tasha Sanford. "Then we have a dress drive where any girl in our community can come in and pick our a dress for prom or graduation for $20, with shoes and accessories for $5."
The dress drive is now in its 10th year. Sanford has been involved for the last nine and has lost track of how many dresses they've sold.
"Hundreds probably. We usually sell between 30 and 40 a year, so quite a bit."
Sanford said the dress sale is open to everyone in Chatham-Kent.
"We've noticed in the past couple of years it's not just students. It's people coming for interviews, it's people coming that have to go to the wedding for the summer. So we're getting a wide array of females that are coming in to buy stuff."
Donations of dresses, shoes, and accessories can be dropped off at the main office at the high school at 85 Grand Ave. W. during school hours until Wednesday, April 24.
The dresses will be sold on Thursday, April 25 from 3-7 p.m., cash only. All the money raised will go to help cover costs for prom.
