Impaired driving charge
A 56-year-old woman is in trouble with the law after allegedly failing to provide a proper breath sample during a roadside stop.
Chatham-Kent police said they pulled the woman over in a vehicle at approximately 1:20 a.m. Thursday after receiving a complaint about a suspected impaired driver.
Police said the officer who pulled her over gave her instructions and two demonstrations on how to provide a proper sample in the screening device, but she failed to do so.
She was arrested, charged, and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Alleged shoplifter arrested in Chatham
A 27-year-old woman is facing charges in Chatham and Windsor after she was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a shoplifting investigation.
Chatham-Kent police said the woman is accused of shoplifting at a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham at around noon Thursday and after police arrested her, they also learned she was wanted for allegedly committing the same offences at two other Chatham businesses.
The accused was also wanted on a warrant issued by Windsor police.
She was arrested, charged, and transported to Windsor.

Sugar in a gas tank
Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 57-year-old Chatham man in connection with a not-so-sweet act of mischief.
Police said they received a complaint a resident on July 9 who said that someone had poured gasoline inside their vehicle and sugar in the gas tank.
Officers were able to track down a suspect in connection with the case and arrested him.
He was charged with mischief and released with conditions and a future court date.
