Art on the Boulevard celebrates 10 years

Local artists will have a chance to shine this Saturday in Erieau.

The 10th annual Art on the Boulevard will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

"We have well over 100 artists from all different mediums," said organizer Mary Anne Patterson. "Very original work, and this year, again, a really nice blend of many different mediums, but also new people coming to the event. We love that we do get similar people who have come in the past for artists, but also new people to add to the event. So it keeps it fresh and different each year."

A short ceremony will take place at the music gazebo at 12:30 p.m. to honour past committee members and reminisce on 10 years. Patterson said it's a fun day.

"Free music, lots of food running that day. The Yacht Club has a barbeque, the Anglican Church has their 'Perch at the Church'. The restaurants are busy, and we have live art demonstrations as well, happening throughout the whole day."

They are also running the home and cottage tour.

"You can get tickets in advance, or you can get them on the day of the event. They're $20 a person, and there are five very unique homes and cottages on tour," said Patterson. "On the day of the event, we sell them at Memorial Garden, we have an info table there until 1 o'clock."

The Seasonal Inter-Urban Transit Route S1, or the "beach bus", is free during the long weekend, so people can leave their car in Chatham and hop on the bus out to Erieau. The Beach Bus serves Chatham, Erieau and Mitchell’s Bay with stops in Grande Pointe, Pain Court, Charing Cross and Blenheim. It operates every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. until Labour Day.
