A variety of diced chicken meat has been flagged after several illnesses were reported.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled Rosemount brand fully-cooked diced chicken meat over the possibility of listeria contamination. Consumers are being asked not to eat the product, and commercial establishments and retailers are being asked to discard it.
The variety in question is the 13 1/2 millimetre cooked diced chicken meat, reference number #13605, with a package weight of 4.54 kilograms. The packaging indicates a pack date of January 21 of this year.
The recall comes after the Public Health Agency of Canada announced an outbreak of suspected listeria infections linked to the product. Seven have been reported so far, with five in Ontario and one each in British Columbia and Manitoba. The illnesses were reported between November 2017 and June 2019. Six of them resulted in hospitalization.
If you believe that you've become ill from consuming a recalled product, seek medical assistance. If you have the product, either throw it away or return it to the store it was purchased from for a refund.
