The local conservation authority is advising of possible shoreline damage and flooding ahead of strong winds this weekend.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority said with winds speeds between 35-40 kilometres per hour forecasted for Saturday, wave heights on Lake Erie could reach up to 1.5 metres. This may result in shoreline damage, erosion and flooding in areas such as Erie Shore Drive.
"Over the last few years, flooding tends to start along Erie Shore Drive when winds exceed 30 km/h from the south. As the current forecasts call for southwest winds only slightly above this criteria, flooding would not be expected to be as severe as the event earlier this week," the conservation authority said in a news release.
The winds are expected slow and change to a westerly direction Sunday morning.
Everyone is urged to use caution and avoid the shoreline during this time if conditions become hazardous.
