Alleged shoplifter arrested

A 28-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly shoplifting from Walmart in Chatham.

Police said the man allegedly left the store on Tuesday night with several unpaid items, including electronics.

Officers stopped the suspect's vehicle on St. Clair Street. He's now charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

The stolen items -- worth approximately $600 -- were returned to the store.

Deer cause collisions

Police are reminding drivers to be aware of deer following two separate crashes on Talbot Trail and Middle Line.

Police said both of the collisions on Tuesday night involved deer. Although no injuries were reported, both vehicles were significantly damaged.

The peak time for collisions involving deer takes place between October and January, especially at dawn and dusk.

Wheatley man charged with stunt driving

A driver allegedly caught speeding on Wheatley Road won't be behind the wheel any time soon.

An officer stopped a vehicle on Tuesday night. The driver, a 21-year-old Wheatley man, was charged with stunt driving.

Police said the vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the man's driver's licence has been suspended for seven days as well.

Tools reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in where $4,500 worth of items were stolen.

The stolen items, which include a welder and plasma cutter, were taken from a shop on Glenwood Line either Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
