A popular 50/50 lottery to support the Urology Program at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is back.
A steady stream of tickets is already going out for the CKHA Foundation's "Igniting 50/50 Healthcare FUNdraiser", which is now online.
Last year’s raffle raised a total of $298,360, which set the record for the largest online charitable lottery in Southwestern Ontario. Bert Vanderheide of Blenheim won half the jackpot and went home with $149,180.
The funds raised this year will help buy a new C-Arm -- an advanced medical imaging machine that uses X-ray technology. Last year's proceeds helped buy a new $226,000 Holmium Laser, which has now been delivered to CKHA.
"We are really excited to get back out with another 50/50 raffle and raise as much as we can for the new C-Arm" said Gaye Thompson, Board Chair, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation. "We are so grateful for the support of our sponsors and everyone who contributes to this fundraiser. Regardless of who walks away with the prize, it really is a win-win any time we are able to further advance health care in our community."
This year’s draw will take place on August 26, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the CKHA Foundation office. Tickets will be sold exclusively online at www.ignite5050.ca this year and not throughout the community because of the COVID-19 health and safety restrictions. The CKHA Foundation website at www.ckhaf.ca will be tracking the jackpot.
