Plans are underway in Lambton County to test farmers and migrant workers for COVID-19.
Lambton EMS is working with Bluewater Health and Lambton Public Health to offer testing to farm employers and migrant workers in the coming weeks.
Warden Bill Weber told Sue Storr on CHOK (103.9 FM, 1070 AM) on Thursday morning that there are about 200 migrant workers in the county.
"I know the places that use these workers depend on them to get their crops planted and harvested and all of the things that they come to do," he said. "COVID testing is offered to the migrant workers but we are hopefully working and keeping everyone safe."
Migrant workers being infected with the virus has been a major issue in Windsor-Essex.
On Wednesday the provincial government allowed the region to advance to Stage 2 of its reopening plan with the exception of Leamington and Kingsville due to outbreaks on area farms.
