The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 98 additional cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, 96 of which came from the agri-food sector.
The health unit is currently dealing with six workplaces in the agriculture sector that are in an outbreak, two in Kingsville and four in Leamington.
"All 96 of the positive cases the [Windsor-Essex County Health Unit] is reporting today are associated with targeted asymptomatic testing that occurred at one Agri-farm this past week," health unit officials said in a release. "The Health Unit is working closely with the owners/operators of the farm to notify all individual cases and ensure isolation accommodations are in place. The WECHU staff will be on-site Monday to conduct in-person assessment and follow up."
Meanwhile, the health unit continues to monitor an outbreak at the Village at Aspen Lake long-term care home and reported one additional outbreak at Extendicare Tecumseh.
The number of deaths in the region remained at 68 as of Sunday.
So far, 863 individuals have recovered from the virus in Windsor-Essex.
