Chatham-Kent police are encouraging parents to take some time this long weekend to talk to their kids about how to protect themselves online.
Police recently noted that with kids spending more time online during COVID-19 than they did before the pandemic, there is an increased risk for them to come into contact with individuals who may be looking to abuse or exploit them.
One resource that the local police force is suggesting for parents to consider is called "Cybertip Alerts."
A release from CK police says the service sends notifications to parents about concerning technology trends and it also has resources that are designed to increase your child's personal safety.

Officers also noted that Cybertip.ca is Canada's national tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children and that tips from the public can help to protect kids from sexual abuse.
