Chatham chase leads to weapon charges
A 35-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly chased his girlfriend and two others down a street in Chatham with a couple of knives.
Officers were called about a disturbance on Wednesday around 6 a.m. Police said the chase occurred after a girlfriend and two others left the residence following an argument between the couple.
It's also alleged the 35-year-old tried to slash the tires of a nearby van during the chase. He locked himself in his apartment when police were called by concerned neighbours.
Following a negotiation, he willingly opened the door and was taken into police custody. He was charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault with a weapon. He was also charged with assault and forcible confinement in connection with a separate domestic-related incident.

Counterfeits used in Chatham
Chatham-Kent police are warning the public to be careful when accepting cash after two counterfeit $20 U.S. bills were used at a business in Chatham on Wednesday.
Business owners are being reminded that it is not mandatory to accept a bill if it's believed to be a counterfeit. The Bank of Canada has information on how to spot counterfeit Canadian and U.S. bills.

Break-in at storage units
Police are investigating after six storage units in Dresden were broken into.
It's unknown yet what, if anything, was stolen. The break-in happened sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning on Community Road.

Chatham man charged in domestic disturbance
Charges have been laid after police were called about a domestic disturbance in Chatham.
A 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault and mischief under $5,000 after he allegedly damaged some of his girlfriend's property.
He has a future court date scheduled for November 18.

Mischief in Chatham
Police are asking for tips from the public after someone smashed the front windshield of a parked vehicle with a rock.
The vehicle was parked in a driveway on Ottawa Drive in Chatham. The incident happened around 3 a.m. on October 10.
Damage is estimated at $5,000.

Break-in at Wallaceburg computer shop
A 40-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges in connection with a break-in at PC Business Systems on James Street.
The break-in took place around 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday after the front door was smashed in. Police said a Dell laptop and two Explornet internet antennas, worth $1,800, were reported stolen.
A suspect was identified and arrested shortly after. The 40-year-old was charged with break and enter and failing to comply with his release conditions.

Man charged with failing to comply
A man tried to run but couldn't hide from police after he allegedly broke his curfew.
Police said a 36-year-old man was seen riding a bicycle on Grand Avenue East in Chatham around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. However, he was under conditions to obey a daily curfew of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The 36-year-old reportedly fled on his bike through a nearby empty parking lot but was stopped nearby. He was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
