Chatham-Kent Public Health is notifying the Chatham Kent Secondary School community of possible exposure to COVID-19.
On Monday, the Lambton Kent District School Board issued a COVID-19 advisory due to a probable case of COVID-19 within the school's community and sent 15 students home.
Public health officials are working closely with the board to contact any students and staff members who may have been in potential contact with the virus.
The school remains open at this time.
A letter to Chatham Kent Secondary School parents and guardians requests that students continued to be monitored for symptoms of the virus.
"Chatham-Kent Public Health will only call close contacts of probable or confirmed cases. If you have not been contacted, you have not been in close contact with the probable or confirmed case," stated the advisory. "As requested prior to the start of the school year, please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19. If your child is ill, please keep them at home and call your health care provider or local health unit."
The Lambton-Kent District School Board currently has two confirmed cases of the virus within its schools -- one at Tecumseh Public School in Chatham and one at a secondary school in Sarnia.
Meanwhile, health officials in Chatham-Kent reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the municipal case count to 400, 26 of which are currently active.
