Health officials in Windsor-Essex reported a slight increase in COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
The local health unit reported 23 new cases, bringing the regional case count to 2,923.
The transmission source of a majority of the newest cases is still being investigated. Two cases are community-acquired, one is a close contact of a confirmed case and one is a local healthcare worker.
Meanwhile, two more people recovered from the virus in the region over the past 24 hours. A total of 2,754 of the total cases are listed as being resolved.
There are currently four longterm care homes in Windsor-Essex that are in COVID-19 outbreak- Berkshire Care Center in Windsor, Riverside Place in Windsor, Lifetimes on Riverside in Windsor and Iller Lodge in Essex.
Elsewhere, it was the second day in a row that the province recorded a record number of daily new COVID-19 cases. Ontario health officials reported 1,328 additional cases on Sunday with 13 new deaths and 877 more resolved cases.
