Three London firefighters test positive for COVID-19, outbreak declared

The London Fire Department confirmed that three firefighters have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the health unit to declare a workplace outbreak.

The City of London issued a statement on Sunday confirming the outbreak, stating the affected firefighters are currently self-isolating for two-weeks. Anyone in close contact with the three individuals have been tested, or have been directed to be tested, and will also go into quarantine for 14 days.

The investigation is ongoing, but the threat to the community is low, as firefighters on duty wear personal protective equipment at all times when responding to emergency calls.

For privacy reasons, no other details including what stations the firefighters worked in have been mentioned. The affected facilities have undergone a deep cleaning, and both the city and the fire department said it remains diligent in following all health precautions to reduce the spread of the virus.
