Search warrant turns up drug equipment, firearm
Chatham-Kent police have requested arrest warrants for two people after officers allegedly found a carelessly stored firearm at a residence on Gray Street in Chatham Wednesday night.
Police said they also found various ammunition and some drug-related equipment when they searched the residence and a fifth wheel trailer that was parked in the driveway.
As of Thursday morning, police had requested a warrant for a 38-year-old Chatham man for failing to comply with his release conditions and a 21-year-old Chatham man for firearm-related offences.

Man found breaching release conditions after crash
A 35-year-old Chatham man who allegedly crashed a vehicle in Wallaceburg last night is in trouble for more than just his role in the collision.
Police said they were called to the scene on Fraser Road at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and learned that the driver had lost control of the vehicle before it left the roadway, hit a hydro pole, and ended up in a ditch.
Officers were able to find the occupants of the vehicle a short distance from the scene on Heritage Line.
A 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested in connection with the case and charged with careless driving. He was also charged with failing to comply with his release conditions because he was under a court order not to communicate with a specific woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for hitting man with a crowbar
A 28-year-old Merlin woman has been arrested and charged after she allegedly assaulted a man with a crowbar.
Police said they arrested her after they were called to investigate a domestic disturbance at a local motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham early Thursday morning.
The accused was charged with assault with a weapon and later released with a future court date.
