It's looking like a soggy start for the first few days of fall.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Monday evening for parts of southwestern Ontario, including Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, Windsor-Essex, London and Middlesex County and upgraded that to a rainfall warning early Tuesday morning.
The weather agency is forecasting significant rainfall over the next several days, with 30-50 millimetres of rain expected in the region by Wednesday morning. Areas with prolonged precipitation could see upwards of 100 mm by Thursday morning.
The rain is expected to begin early Tuesday evening, lasting throughout Wednesday and possibly into Thursday.
"There is still considerable uncertainty and variability in the forecast model guidance with both the location of the heaviest rain and the duration of the rainfall event," Environment Canada said in a news release.
