UPDATE: Troubled CK police officer released into rehab

A Chatham-Kent police officer has been released from jail to get the help she needs in rehab.

Cristelle VandenEnden was released from the Windsor jail on Friday where she has been held for the past four months and has been ordered by the court to report to Brentwood Recovery Home in Windsor on Tuesday morning to get treatment.

VandenEnden's terms of release were outlined during her appearance in Chatham court by video. Her conditions are to report to the John Howard Society within 24 hours of her release, where she will remain under supervision at an address provided by the agency until she reports to Brentwood, and she must not leave her approved residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.  VandenEnden must also stay away from and not communicate with at least ten different people, must not possess any weapons or illicit drugs, and she's prohibited from driving.

She will be on the hook for $3,000 if she fails to comply with the terms of her release, including not completing her treatment program.

VandenEnden is facing a slew of charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, drug possession, possession of stolen property, breaching her previous release conditions, and fraud.

Constable VandenEnden continues to be on a medical leave of absence from work. She will return to court on August 10, 2021 for an update on her treatment.
