Residents of southwestern Ontario can expect winter to make a big return after mild weather covers the area on Tuesday.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for much of the region, including London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor-Essex. The weather agency says, after sunshine and above freezing temperatures on Tuesday, a significant amount of snow will fall on the area from Wednesday to Friday.
Forecasters are calling for between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow by Friday, along with wind gusts of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour.
"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations," the advisory said. "Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations."
The snow is expected to taper off Friday morning.
