One suspect arrested, one on the loose after Tim Horton's break-ins

Chatham-Kent police have tracked down one suspect, but they are still looking for a second person in connection with a pair of break-ins at Tim Horton's restaurants in Blenheim.

Police said two suspects broke into the Tim Horton's on Chatham Street South just before 11 p.m. on the Family Day holiday (February 20) and took off with a significant amount of cash from the store.

Investigators said the suspects then came back a few hours later to remove some surveillance equipment.

About two and a half hours after the break-in on Chatham Street South, two suspects also broke into the Tim Horton's on Talbot Street West in Blenheim and took off with a significant amount of cash.

As part of their investigation, police executed a search warrant on King Street South in Highgate on Wednesday and arrested one suspect.

The 41-year-old Highgate man was charged with three counts of break and entering and three counts of possession of stolen property.

He was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Anyone who has information that could help police identify the second suspect is asked to contact Constable Adrian Roy at adrianr@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600.

You can also submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
