Serious collision on Grand Avenue West
Chatham-Kent police are investigating a collision that involved two vehicles and a pedestrian.
Police were called to Grand Avenue West at Woods Street, around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
According to police, a red pickup truck was driving east on Grand Avenue West when it jumped the curb onto the sidewalk on the south side of the road.
The vehicle struck a 19-year-old pedestrian walking on the sidewalk, police said. The teen suffered minor injuries.
"The truck proceeded to strike a utility pole, veer back onto Grand Avenue, and collide with a westbound GMC Envoy vehicle, which was travelling westbound on Grand Ave West," police said in a release. "The collision caused both vehicles to strike another utility pole just east of Woods Street."
The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Comber man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 41-year-old Comber woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital.
The driver of the Envoy, a 69-year-old Chatham man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. His passenger, a 65-year-old Chatham woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to London Health Sciences Centre, where she is listed in stable condition.
At this time, no charges have been reported in relation to the crash.
