The Chief of the Middlesex London Paramedic Service officially announced his candidacy for the Progressive Conservative nomination in the riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
Neal Roberts is just the second person to express intent to run for the seat vacated by MPP Monte McNaughton, joining Chatham-Kent councillor Steve Pinsonneault.
“We are at a pivotal moment where decisive action is needed. My campaign is about bringing practical solutions to the pressing challenges we face in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex,” said Roberts.
Roberts campaign platform includes: expanding highspeed broadband internet, improving quality and timely access to healthcare, and increasing natural gas availability.
He says as a former business owner and Past President of the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs, he "brings more than 40 years of senior leadership experience in the private, municipal, and provincial sectors."
That includes a former role in the Premier’s Council on Improving Health Care and Ending Hallway Medicine, a voluntary expert advisory council reporting to the Premier and the Minister of Health.
The local PCs have a nomination meeting scheduled on January 27, 2024.
A provincial by-election must be called within six months of an MPP's departure, meaning a by-election must be called by the end of March.
