Boil water advisory lifted in CK, Windsor-Essex

The boil water advisory issued for Wheatley, Tilbury, and Leamington has been rescinded.

Chatham-Kent PUC's General Manager Darren Galbraith told their board meeting on Thursday afternoon that a second water sample has come back all clear. Galbraith noted both health units in Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex have endorsed the samples and have recommended the boil water advisory be lifted.

He said two water samples clear of e-coli and coliform were needed 24 hours apart before the boil water advisory was lifted.

Galbraith also noted a watermain had to be repaired and flushed. The boil water advisory was issued on Monday to all consumers of the Wheatley and Tilbury Municipal Water Distribution Systems, including the following:

* Mint Waterline Association

  • D&O Waterline Association

  • 3rd Concession Waterline Association

  • 3rd & 4th Concession Waterline Association

  • KOA Waterline Association

  • Cedar Inn Water Line Association

  • Richardson Sideroad Waterline Association

  • Tecumseh Waterline Association

  • Tilbury Townline Waterline Association

  • Leamington (Wheatley DS)

Galbraith said the goal was to have the boil water advisory cleared before the long weekend.

"So, that's good news to get through this boil water advisory, especially before the long weekend. We worked very hard to achieve the timelines and pushed hard so that we would not be putting people in Wheatley and Tilbury into this state over the long weekend," said Galbraith.
