Harrow man busted for impaired driving on Hwy 401

A Harrow man has been charged with impaired driving by alcohol and drugs after a crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported a single vehicle struck reflective delineators on the eastbound Highway 401 on Saturday morning near the 71-kilometer marker and failed to remain at the location.

The suspect vehicle was later stopped near the 112-kilometer marker of the eastbound Highway 401.

The OPP said the investigating officer noticed signs of intoxication from the 42-year-old driver and arrested him, pending further testing.

The Harrow man was then charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired and a blood/alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams plus of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood and operation of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs.

He also had his driver's licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

"The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers," police urged.

The OPP encourages the public to dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 if they see a driver they suspect is impaired.
