The road to a championship continues for the CK Cyclones

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones Under-13 boys hockey team went undefeated in their last round of the playoffs and continue their road to a regional championship.

The team will be playing in the Alliance Hockey Under-13 AAA Championships hosted by the Sun County Panthers on March 28-30, 2025 in Essex at the Essex Centre Sports Complex Libro Rink.

The Alliance champions will advance to the Under-13 AAA Regional Championships hosted in Sudbury April 9-13, 2025.

CK Cyclones Head Coach Kyle Hope told CK News the Alliance round robin tournament will feature teams from Chatham-Kent, London, Elgin, Sun County, and Brantford.

Hope said the plan is to keep his young players sharp and in game shape until the puck drops at the end of March in Essex.

"We'll continue with our regular scheduling of practice and look to add some stuff on the weekends to stay sharp, whether it's some inter-squad games or something along those to try and stay on top of it," said Coach Hope.

Hope said all of the teams are good and his team has to be ready for any and all challenges that come its way.

"They're all good. We've had plenty of games with them all. So, when you get into one game things it's going to be anything, a hot goaltender, a bad call by a ref, one bad bounce, or something. You've got to be at your absolute best to avoid any of those things having too big of an impact on the game as well," Hope added.

The coach invites the general public to come out and cheer the young squad on to what they hope is a championship.

The young Cyclones capped off its regular season undefeated with a record of 27-0-4, a first for any team in CK Cyclones history, according to team officials.
