'Ask for Angela' campaign launching in CK

Chatham-Kent Victim Services is partnering with area Loblaw stores to help people in unsafe situations.

The 'Ask for Angela' campaign is an initiative, established in the United Kingdom in 2016, that aims to help anyone who feels like they're in an unsafe situation. It's especially aimed at those experiencing intimate partner violence or who feel vulnerable or threatened in public spaces.

All anyone has to do is use the code phrase "Is Angela here?" at participating venues, and trained staff will quickly and discreetly put them in touch with Chatham-Kent Victim Services.

"We are thrilled to partner with Loblaw to bring the 'Ask for Angela' campaign to Chatham-Kent," said Kate do Forno, Executive Director of Chatham-Kent Victim Services. "This initiative will provide a vital resource for individuals who may find themselves in uncomfortable or dangerous situations while out in the community."

The campaign launches in Chatham-Kent on Friday, March 28.

All local Loblaw locations, including Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, and No Frills will be participating. Staff members at those locations will receive specialized training so they can effectively help those in need.
