Wheatley library expected to reopen in few days after gas leak

People should be able to visit the Chatham-Kent Public Library in Wheatley later this week.

The building has been closed for several days due to a gas leak near the back of the property.

The library is expected to reopen on Thursday, exactly a week after the leak was found. The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is currently investigating the property to ensure its safe before fully committing to a return date.

Around 60 homes were forced to evacuate out of fear that a similar explosion like in 2021 could happen. However, residents were allowed to return home the next day.
