Three Diamonds teams bring home OBA titles

The Chatham Diamonds had a successful weekend at the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Championships.

Chatham hosted the 12U B Championships and clinched the title with a 7-5 win over the Stratford Nationals on Sunday, September 1.

The 12U Diamonds opened the tournament on Friday with an 18-0 victory over the Kawartha Cubs, then beat Stratford 7-4 and the LaSalle Titans 16-5 on Saturday, before getting by the Valley East Voyageurs 2-1 on Sunday.

Chatham lost their only game of the tournament on Sunday afternoon, falling 6-4 to Stratford, which set up another showdown with the Nationals on Monday morning, which the Diamonds won.

The 14U Chatham Diamonds were in Richmond Hill, and beat the Tecumseh Rangers 13-1 to win the 14U A Championship.

The 14U Diamonds opened the tournament with a 7-4 win over the Quinte Royals on Friday, then beat the Caledon Nationals 12-2, the Ancaster Angels 5-0, and the Erindale Cardinals 12-10 on Saturday.

Chatham then lost 22-20 to Tecumseh on Sunday, their only loss of the tournament, which set up another showdown with the Rangers, which they won.

The 15U Diamonds beat the Riverside Royals 6-5 and the Niagara Falls Falcons 25-2 on Friday, before downing the Peterborough Tigers 14-6 and the host London Talons 22-4 on Saturday.

Chatham then dominated the Sault Ste. Marie Black Sox 20-1, before beating London 11-1 again to claim the title.
