A local man has been awarded for his contributions to the community.
Chris Taylor, a board member with Community Living Wallaceburg and volunteer with Your TV Chatham-Kent, the Chatham Maroons Junior B Hockey Club, and a local Chatham-Kent radio station, was presented with the Jason Rae Award over the weekend.
The honour was given at the Community Living Ontario Annual Conference and goes to a person with an intellectual disability who has demonstrated leadership and given back to their community. The award comes a $1,000 prize.
Community Living Wallaceburg called Taylor a strong presence in the community, adding that his leadership and advocacy reminds people of the valuable contributions that people with disabilities continue to make every day.
"Chris is a strong and confident voice who never hesitates to bring perspective and a reminder of why the work of the organization and its Board is so important," said Ben Hazzard, President of the Community Living Wallaceburg Board. "His wisdom and experience make him an incredible asset."
Roger Romses, Executive Director of Community Living Wallaceburg, also expressed his congratulations and gratitude to Taylor.
"We truly appreciate everything Chris has given and continues to give to our organization and to our community at large," he said. "He is a genuine, generous, dedicated, and hard-working individual who serves as an example of citizenship within his community that we can all aspire to."
