CK YouTuber raises $13K for charity with 7-day stay in storage unit

A Chatham-Kent (CK) YouTuber who spent seven days inside a portable storage unit has exceeded the fundraising goal.

The campaign, headed by Exordia Creative and Portable Storage, was hoping to raise $12,000 for the Children's Centre Treatment Foundation of CK. At the end of the week, $13,206.10 had been raised.

It all began on Monday, October 19, with Exordia Creative Team Member Isaac Davey staying in the unit for seven consecutive days. It was well furnished, with people able to remove items based on the donation given.

"Near the beginning of the week, I was pretty good, but near the end of the week, as things were disappearing, it was a little bit lonely and a little bit uncomfortable," said Davey.

Over the course of the initiative, 52 items were removed, including Davey's bed, pillows, blankets, and couch.

"It was kind of what I expected , but I honestly wasn't expecting my bed to be gone," Davey continued. "Near the end, we were running out of items. We eventually put up my sleeping bag once my bed had sold."

Only seven items remained when the campaign closed including a mini production light, production light, sleeping bag, LEGO Set, garbage can, shelf, and a mini-fridge.

He livestreamed the whole experience on his YouTube (@isank27) and had about 70 viewers at all times.

"It was fun. Obviously, it was a little challenging, but I like the weeklong challenge idea and putting a charity behind it," Davey said.

He added that he would be open to doing a similar campaign again in the future.
