The Forest City is in for a soaking this weekend.
Environment Canada predicts heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will begin overnight Friday and continue on Saturday. Rainfall amounts could total 20-30 mm. While that's a significant amount of precipitation, it's a long way from the record for June 27, which occurred in 1943 when 56.4 mm of rain fell.
In addition to London-Middlesex, Environment Canada says Sarnia-Lambton, Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent can also expect to get drenched.
A low pressure system arriving Saturday will spread rain across Southern Ontario from west to east through the day. For some areas, the rain will continue through Sunday afternoon.
There is also a risk of isolated thunderstorms on the weekend, especially over Southwestern Ontario. Gusting easterly winds are expected to develop Saturday between 50-70 km/hr, strongest along the Lower Great Lakes.
