Provincial police are reminding motorists to drive with caution following a crash that injured two people and killed a cow in Norfolk County.
The Ontario Provincial Police say on Thursday around 9:30pm, officers responded to St Johns Rd. E in Woodhouse after a westbound vehicle struck the 1,700 lb animal.
Police say the cow escaped from a secure field just before the crash.
The 76-year-old driver and 74-year-old passenger from Norfolk County suffered minor injuries. The cow was killed in the crash.
“It’s not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision," says Constable Ed Sanchuk in a media release. "Drive with caution and within the speed limit, and to be aware of [your] surroundings at all times."
