A London manufacturer is expanding its facility, adding a handful of new jobs and securing over 100 existing ones.
Armo-Tool announced a $7.6-million investment in its operation on Longwoods Rd. on Wednesday. The expansion, which will also see equipment upgrades, will create 15 new jobs and retain another 145 positions.
"At Armo-Tool we are dedicated to continually improving our processes and systems through innovation," said Ben Whitney, company president.
Armo-Tool has supplied the province's auto sector for more than 45 years, specializing in tooling, fixtures, stamping dies, custom automation, robotic equipment, and tubing solutions.
The provincial government is kicking in roughly $611,600 towards the expansion project.
"Our government is pleased to support Armo-Tool’s plans to expand its business and increase its production capacity. Armo-Tool is a major employer in this community, and this investment will help to bring more jobs to the London area," said Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Growth.
Duguid toured the facility prior to the announcement.
This isn't the first time the Ontario government has given funds to the London manufacturer. A previous investment helped Armo-Tool add 35 new jobs, more than double the amount that was expected, between 2013 and 2016.
Armo-Tool anticipates its latest expansion will be completed in September 2020.
