The family of Shelley Joy Desrochers is renewing a call for help on the London woman's third birthday since her disappearance.
Sunday, February 4 will mark Desrochers’ 44th birthday and her sisters have joined with the London Police Service to ask the public to come forward with any information they may have about their missing family member.
“It’s been a long two years for our family,” her sisters said in a statement provided to London police. “We are continuing to ask the public for more information and leads on Shelley’s case.”
Desrochers was last seen around 10am on January 5, 2016, in the area of Hamilton Rd. and Rectory St. Her disappearance wasn’t reported to police until three weeks later. Police became more concerned on January 29, 2016, when Desrochers failed to access money from a bank account that she was expected to.
Police say she was known to struggle with addiction and lived a "high-risk lifestyle", which has investigators very concerned about her wellbeing.
Police say almost a dozen tips about Desrochers have been received as a result of a poster and social media blitz that began last month.
"Police have spent timeless hours focused on what happened to Shelley around January 2-5, 2016,” the sisters said. "Our family has been actively involved and have had continued contact with police from the beginning, and are confident police are aiming to solve Shelley’s case."
The family plans to decorate a commemorative bench located at Rayner Gardens on Springbank Dr. to recognize Desrochers’ birthday.
Desrochers is described as a white female, 5’2” tall, 130 lbs with hazel eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she had long brown hair. She has a distinctive walking style that is described as being “pigeon-toed,” and has various visible tattoos which include a rose, a heart and a bluebird.
