Fire officials are looking for the cause of a fire that sent two people, including a firefighter, to hospital.
The blaze broke out at 1004 Oxford St. around 6:30 a.m. Thursday. According to London police, the building has apartments that house 10 people above a convenience store.
"Possibly two people jumped from a second storey window," said Acting Deputy Fire Chief Jack Burt. "When we arrived, everyone was out of the building. One of the occupants was injured as a result of jumping out of the window. As well, one firefighter was injured as a result of fighting the fire. Both were taken to hospital as a precaution."
Burt said a few people were treated on scene for smoke inhalation but they did not need to be taken to hospital.
It's not known yet what caused the fire, but a representative of the Ontario Fire Marshall's office is expected to attend the scene to assist with the investigation.
Police closed Oxford Street between Quebec Street and Stuart Street for several hours. It re-opened just after 9:30 a.m.
