OLG pays out casino dividends to the city

The City of London has received its quarterly cheque from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

A payment of $1,619,107 was made to the city on Friday for the first quarter of the fiscal year (April 1 to June 30, 2019) for hosting  Gateway Casinos – London.  The city has received more than $79 million in non-tax gaming revenue from the OLG since September 1999.

“OLG has established tremendous partnerships with host municipalities and the revenue generated at these local gaming sites is helping to improve the quality of life for individuals and families right across the province,” said Ontario Minister of Finance Rod Phillips in a media release. “These funds are invested in plenty of important projects, including much-needed investment in local infrastructure, community programs and services, roads and public transit."

An equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement determines how much municipalities receive for hosting a gaming facility.
