Nearly two months after a shooting in east London that sent one man to hospital in critical condition, police have made an arrest.
Jacob Patrick Sturgeon, 22, of London was taken into police custody around 11:30 p.m. on Friday. An arrest warrant for Sturgeon was issued two weeks prior to his arrest. He is charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent to wound/endanger life, possession of a loaded/unloaded firearm, careless use of a firearm, using a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon without ownership, and pointing a firearm.
The charges stem from a shooting in the area of Dundas and English streets June 20. A man was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital in critical condition. In the hours that followed, London police cordoned off the area outside of a pizzeria at 735 Dundas St., before taping off a section outside of a building a short distance away at 745 Dundas St.
At the time, police said the shooting was not a random incident.
The victim, whose name and age were not disclosed, has since been released from hospital.
Sturgeon is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Monday.
