With indoor dining still subject to pandemic-related seating limits, restaurants and bars are being allowed to keep their patios open for a few more months.
The City of London announced Wednesday that it is extending the temporary patio rules in the city to December 31.
“London’s businesses have shown that it is possible to create truly wonderful shopping and dining experiences while following all health precautions,” said Mayor Ed Holder. “We must help make the transition into cooler weather as smooth as possible so businesses can continue serving customers safely.”
According to a news release from the city, businesses that want to keep seating customers on patios beyond the fall should contact the City's Back to Business team.
"Additional actions are required to maintain and operate patios safely during the colder weather, and the B2B team will work closely with them to ensure the right steps and guidelines are being implemented," it said.
The city says it will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and follow guidance from the Middlesex London Health Unit. It says more information will be released in the coming weeks regarding what businesses can expect regarding patios in 2021.
