A Strathroy-Caradoc man has been charged following a collision that sent a woman to hospital with serious injuries.
The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service announced on Friday that 40-year-old Andrew Earle Buller is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm in connection with the crash that occurred on Wednesday.
The incident began when officers attempted to stop an Audi S4 for a Highway Traffic Act offence at around 9:30 a.m., but the driver took off in an effort to evade police. However, the driver collided with a Toyota Corolla at Longwoods Road and Christina Road and then ran from the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 59-year-old woman, had to be extricated by the Strathroy-Caradoc fire department before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Buller has also been charged with flight from a peace officer, failing to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm, driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and use a plate not authorized for a vehicle.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified of the incident and is now also investigating. The SIU investigates incidents involving the police that have resulted in serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
