Two months after two people were killed in a partial building collapse in west London, workers have been allowed to return to the construction site.
Ontario's Ministry of Labour confirmed Wednesday work has resumed at the four-storey condominium at 555 Teeple Terrace near Wonderland Road. However, the section of the building that collapsed on December 11 of last year remains under ministry control.
John Martens, 21, and Henry Harder, 26, were killed when a section of the fourth floor caved in around noon that day, crashing through the lower levels of the structure and taking out the exterior wall. Five other people were also hurt, including four who had to be hospitalized.
An inspector with the Ministry of Labour performed a field visit of the site last Friday and issued a "requirement" to the building's constructor BECO Developments (London) Inc.
"To date, [the ministry] has issued 24 requirements and three orders. Workers are allowed back on site," a ministry spokesperson said in a statement.
As the investigation into the collapse is still ongoing, no details about the orders were released.
Work had been halted at the site since the collapse.
