A level of normalcy not seen at recreation and sports facilities in London since before the pandemic is returning.
The City of London announced on Monday it is expanding services and lifting capacity limits at its community centres, arenas, and aquatic facilities. Some of the most notable changes taking effect include the reopening of dressing room showers and the permittance of outside food and drinks.
Physical distancing and capacity requirements have been lifted in dressing rooms and on ice surfaces. Individual programs that previously had a requirement for participants to maintain six feet distance will also have capacity limited increased.
The decision to ease some public health safety measures comes after the provincial government lifted physical distancing requirements in places where proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
"All other health and safety measures including mandatory use of face coverings, screening for symptoms of COVID-19 and proof of vaccination remain in place," the city said in a statement. "Londoners are reminded that proof of vaccination is required to access city recreation programs, services, and facilities including community centres, arenas, and indoor aquatics facilities."
Valid identification, such as a driver’s licence, must also be shown alongside proof of vaccination.
