Pedestrian seriously hurt in hit-and-run in east London

London police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with serious injuries late Sunday night.

A 31-year-old woman was walking in the area of Highbury Avenue and Brydges Street around 11:50 p.m. when she was struck.

Emergency crews were called and the woman was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. As of Monday morning, the woman was still in hospital, police said.

The driver of the vehicle involved took off following the collision.

The roadway was closed for several hours while the police traffic management unit investigated. It has since been reopened.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who might have dash-cam or security footage from the area to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
