It's going to be a snowy start to the weekend for parts of southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued the alert late Thursday evening for areas including London-Middlesex, parts of eastern Lambton County, and Midwestern Ontario.
Lake effect snow is expected to start coming off Lake Huron beginning overnight Thursday and continuing through Friday. The weather agency said local snowfall amounts between 7-15 centimetres are possible by Friday evening. Snow squalls are also anticipated with this system.
As of Friday morning, a snow squall warning is in effect for London, Parkhill, eastern Middlesex County, northern Huron County, Wingham, southern Bruce County, and Saugeen Shores.
"Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance," a statement from Environment Canada read.
The snow is expected to taper off by late Friday night.
