Windsor police have charged a 27-year-old man after a weekend shooting in the downtown core.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., police responded to Ouellette Avenue near Chatham Street on a report of shots fired.
The victim is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and police said there is no ongoing concern for public safety.
Constable Bianca Jackson said that investigators were able to get a description of two men, and one of them was arrested a few blocks away.
That suspect, identified as a London man, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, plus one count each of assault, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, and pointing a firearm at someone. These charges have not been proven in court.
A warrant has been issued for a second suspect, identified by police as Ahmed Alshammari, 32, of Windsor. He is wanted for possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace, possessing a restricted firearm without a licence, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Alshammari is described as a Middle Eastern male, 6' 2", 260 lbs, with a full beard, black short hair, and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you recognize him, do not approach him yourself. Call 911 immediately.
