Following a messy wintery mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain, school buses outside of London have been cancelled for the day Tuesday.
Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services confirmed around 6 a.m. that school purpose vehicles in Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties and the Red Zone will not be hitting the roads. To see the full list of bus cancellations click here.
School buses in the City of London will be running on schedule.
The decision to cancel the buses for most of the region comes as clean up from Monday's blast of winter continues. The system packing snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain moved in during the afternoon and continued into the night before changing over to rain and drizzle as the temperature rose above freezing. Plows and sanders are out working to clear roads. While main routes inside London are mostly just wet, secondary roads in rural areas are snow covered and slick. Any ice around the region is expected to melt quickly Tuesday as the daytime temperature is forecast to climb to 6 C.
The London District Catholic and Thames Valley District school boards have confirmed all schools will be open on Tuesday.
